Daily Deviation

Given 2005-04-02
In this day and age, film is being overtaken by the digital world and so it's refreshing to see it as the focal point of a photograph. Doctrine of a Photographer by ~aircrash has very pleasing composition and unique placement of objects which makes this a striking image. Lovely tones, and of course the black and white works so well here. This photographer has some very unique works, so please take a look through the rest of the gallery. Doctrine of a Photographer is an allegory:

The Photography can represent feelings and passions (woman), but it is anyway subdued to whatever is impressioned on film, not just what human eyes can see (film-gagged eyes): this is, at the same time, both a limitation and a key-point of Photography.

Photography is technics too (camera) and must thus abide to the laws of Optics.

Photography is done by man: as such, any shots cannot be completely removed of the photographer's inprinting, no matter how hard he tries.
In every photo there's the immanent presence of its photographer (foot): it was he who trivially shot it (that's because its foot is visible) but as long and as hard as he tries to "remove himself out og the shoot" (metaphorically) he always leaves a track of himself.

i really like the concept behind this. you have used a great range of values and it does have a good balance of them, but i don't really like the composition. it seems disjointed and doesn't provide much odf a sense of direction, like the foot or the camera should be closer to the person so that it would provide a triangular sense of balance. just my personal opinion...i don't want to hurt any feelings! and if that disjointed aspect is something you were trying to get, i completely understand, might just not be my cup of tea...
